Building a StoryBrand

Building a StoryBrand is an effective and inexpensive way to improve your organization’s messaging. With the StoryBrand framework,you can confidently create websites, emails, and more that actually work, without spending a fortune on a consultant or agency but, most importantly, you’ll learn to clearly state your mission. Participate in the workshop or at least read the book. Remember: if you confuse, you lose!

 

CreateAthon

Apply to the annual CreateAthon at Virginia Commonwealth University and your organization may be selected to receive strategic and creative pro bono service. Each student team will work with local advertising, design, or marketing professionals who will mentor the students’ work, ensuring high-quality and effective materials. The application deadline is in November of each year. Applicants are selected  in December and projects are completed in early May.

Public Relations Society of America-Richmond Chapter

PRSA Richmond is a professional association serving Central Virginia public relations practitioners. The chapter and the national organization, PRSA, are both marking more than a half-century of bringing professionals together to enhance the practice, to provide an exchange of experiences and ideals, and to promote professional development. PRSA Richmond invites Richmond-area nonprofit organizations to apply for public relations counsel and assistance. Examples could include assembling a media kit (with sample news releases, talking points, social media tips); creating awareness of your organization or an issue that is important to your organization; and generating media coverage of an event.

Richmond Ad Club

The Richmond Ad Club is a dynamic organization of advertising professionals that’s been around since 1960. Its official mission is, “To unite our ad community through service endeavors, education and the celebration of creativity.”

Social Media Club Richmond

Social Media Club Richmond facilitates monthly meetings of innovators in Virginia to share, engage and collaborate with the community on the issues of social media and technology. On average, 150-250 people attend events and nearly 400 individuals are connected through its Facebook page.

The Institute on Philanthropy-University of Richmond

The Institute on Philanthropy, or IOP, offers week-long institutes in marketing to meet the learning needs of nonprofit professionals in all positions, directly and indirectly connected to marketing a nonprofit.

Virginia Commonwealth University Brandcenter

The VCU Brandcenter offers pro bono services to nonprofit organizations through student work projects.

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Mass Communications

In partnership with communications companies and government agencies throughout the metropolitan Richmond area, the school offers extensive internships in advertising, public relations, television, newspapers, magazines and new media.
